  • From small beginnings the Museum has been developed into 6 exhibition halls. The gumdiggers camp in the park grounds is our newest attraction. We also run feature displays which change throughout the years – details of these can be found here

The Dargaville Museum is located in HARDING PARK overlooking the town with magnificent views of Toka Toka, Maungaraho and the historic Northern Wairoa River.

Harding Park is also home to the KAIPARA VINTAGE MACHINERY CLUB. Their club days are held on Wednesday and Saturday. Look out for their "Crank up Day" held every Spring and Autumn. For enquiries phone 09 439 5495.

As well as the outstanding views, enjoy a bush walk and take in the historic PO TU TE RANGI PA site or test your skills and enjoy a game of DISC GOLF on the Park’s course. Discs are available for hire at the Museum. Picnic tables are also dotted around the park.

Dargaville Museum offers secure CAMPERVAN SITES (non-power) with waste facilities and water.

Attached to the Museum complex are the NORTHERN WAIROA GENEALOGY SOCIETY rooms which are open for family research every Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings.

Dargaville is a 2.5-hour drive north of Auckland on the Twin Coast Discovery Highway en route to Kai Iwi Lakes and the majestic Waipoua Forest.
